Tokarski previously spent two seasons with the Sabres, Malcolm Subban finds a new hockey home

There will be a new goalie tandem in Rochester next season.
The Buffalo Sabres announced they signed Dustin Tokarski and Devin Cooley each to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000.
Tokarski, 33, returns the organization after playing the bulk of last season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. He went 12-16-7 with a 2.69 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 36 games and appeared in four games with Pittsburgh (1-2-0, 3.44 goals-against average, .897 save percentage).
Prior to that, Tokarski appeared in 42 games over two seasons with the Sabres, including an NHL career high 29 games in 2021-22. He could be the starter for the Rochester Americans next season and potentially fourth on the Sabres’ depth chart in goal, with Devon Levi, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Eric Comrie already under contract on the NHL roster.
Cooley, 26, played all of last season with Milwaukee Admirals, AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators. The 6-foot-5, 192-pound netminder was 15-8-2 with a 2.93 goals-against average and .909 save percentage in 26 games and made four appearances in the Calder Cup Playoffs, going 2-2-0 with a 2.19 goals-against and .916 save percentage.
Goalie Malcolm Subban, who enjoyed a stellar season with the Amerks and helped them to the Eastern Conference final of the Calder Cup Playoffs, signed a one-year, two-way contract with the St. Louis Blues.
The Sabres also signed forward Justin Richards to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000. The 25-year-old has played most of his professional career in the AHL. He had 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists) with the Cleveland Monsters (affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets) last season. The son of Predators assistant coach Todd Richards, he won an NCAA Championship with the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2019, when the tournament was held at KeyBank Center in Buffalo.
