This Sabres star is reportedly garnering trade interest.
The Buffalo Sabres have plenty of trade candidates leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. Erik Johnson, Victor Olofsson, Eric Robinson, Kyle Okposo, Zemgus Girgensons, and Jordan Greenway are a few players who could find new homes by March 8. However, teams are reportedly showing interest in a notable Sabres star as well – Alex Tuch.
In his most recent 32 Thoughts column, prominent NHL insider Elliotte Friedman had this to say about trade interest in Tuch: "Teams have asked Buffalo about Alex Tuch, but the Sabres value him."
Tuch, 27, would be a big-time addition to a playoff club. Not only is he a top-six forward who produces well offensively, but he also has the size and grit to go along with it. As a result, he is a player who is meant for the postseason.
However, with the Sabres looking to become competitive immediately, it would take a lot for the club to even consider moving Tuch. He's been a perfect fit for them, as he's not only one of their best players but also a key leader.
It is possible that more clubs will express interest in Tuch over the next two weeks leading up to the trade deadline, but as Friedman noted, the Sabres value him. Thus, him staying put seems far more likely than not.
In 49 games this season, Tuch has 16 goals, 38 points, and 43 hits.
