The Buffalo Sabres have been connected to Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Laughton as of late. It is understandable, as they would benefit from adding a gritty forward with skill who is also known for being an excellent leader. However, so could many other teams in the NHL, and interest in his services is starting to skyrocket because of it.

The Fourth Period recently released their most updated Trade Watch List, and they reported that along with the Sabres, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Colorado Avalanche are also being connected to Laughton. Given that Toronto, Edmonton, and Colorado all have high expectations for the postseason, it makes sense that they have Laughton on their radars.

Besides the Avalanche, Maple Leafs, and Oilers, another legitimate contender has been connected to Laughton. The Athletic's Arthur Staple recently reported that the New York Rangers also have interest in acquiring Laughton. Given the fact that third-line center Filip Chytil is done for the season and Nick Bonino's contract has been terminated, their interest is not shocking in the slightest.

Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli also recently named the Ottawa Senators as a possible suitor for Laughton. Here's what the prominent insider had to say on the matter: "If the Sabres are in the mix, the Sens would be interesting. Thinking back to GM Steve Staios’ question for '200-foot players,' Laughton fits that bill and he’d have a huge supporter in Claude Giroux." He also listed the Sabres, Avalanche, Oilers, Rangers, and Maple Leafs on his potential list of suitors.

Every team needs a hard-working two-way forward who scores and hits, so it is understandable that Laughton is becoming a hot commodity in the trade market. It also helps that he has term on his contract, too, as his deal does not expire until the end of the 2025-26 season. Thus, his trade market should only grow as we get closer to the deadline, as he's a fit for both contenders and non-playoff clubs.
