2026 top pick Daxon Rudolph has gotten off to a strong start in the NCAA after shifting from the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders
Here is a quick update on Buffalo Sabres selected in 2026:
Olivers Murnieks - C - 124th overall
The 18-year-old Latvian came to North America in 2024 to play in the USHL, and then shifted to the QMJHL last season, where he posted 20 points (7 goals, 13 assists) in 31 games for the Saint John Sea Dogs. Murnieks has played in the last two World Junior Championships for his country and will likely play in his third in December in Alberta. In his freshman year at Boston College, he has an assist in two games.
Doman Szongoth - C 156th overall
A native of Budapest, Szongoth played his youth and junior hockey in Finland and internationally for Hungary. Last season, he scored 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) in 41 games for KooKoo in the Finnish under-20 league. The 18-year-old opted to come to North America after being drafted by the Sabres in the fifth round, and with the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds, he has one assist in 11 games.
Other Sabres Stories
Dylan Dumont - F - 188th overall
Dumont was noticeable at the Sabres Prospect games in September and showed that he could put the puck in the net leading into his draft year, leading his QMJHL club in goals with 28 in 62 games and in playoff goals with four tallies in five games. This season, the 18-year-old winger has six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in 11 games for Drummondville.
In other Sabres news, winger Jason Zucker practiced on Monday and is expected to make his first start of the season on Wednesday at home against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 34-year-old had core muscle surgery in early August after scoring 24 goals in 62 games for the Sabres last season. Zucker skated with Josh Norris and rookie Konsta Helenius.
