OTP - ESPN's Wyshynski And His Thoughts On Lindy Ruff The Buffalo Sabres are letting three prospects leave their system. According to The Buffalo News' Lance Lysowski [https://buffalonews.com/sports/professional/nhl/sabres/mats-lindgren-among-trio-of-prospects-sabres-opt-to-not-sign-before-deadline/article_95b4f480-1e90-11ef-8ed0-87e6471b4fbe.html], the Sabres will not be signing Mats Lindgren, Jakub Konecny, and Albert Lyckasen to entry-level contracts. As a result, they will lose their exclusive signing rights to those players on Saturday. Lindgren, 19, is the most notable player out of this trio. The Sabres selected the left-shot defenseman with the 106th overall 2022 NHL Entry Draft pick. At the time, he had the potential to be a second-round or third-round pick, so he was viewed as a possible steal for the Sabres. However, after posting five goals and 44 points in 68 games with the Kamloops Blazers in 2021-22, he did not take a big step forward in his development and never reached that production again. As a result, the Sabres are letting him re-enter the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-10 forward appeared in 48 games this season with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga, posting five goals and 12 points. He signed a one-year deal with HC Kometa Brno last month. Lyckasen, 22, was selected with the 193rd overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-11 defenseman spent this past season with BIK Karlskoga, recording three goals, 14 points, and a plus-9 rating in 38 games. He also is on the move for the 2024-25 season, signing with Vasteras IK.
