The Buffalo Sabres are letting three prospects leave their system. According to The Buffalo News' Lance Lysowski, the Sabres will not be signing Mats Lindgren, Jakub Konecny, and Albert Lyckasen to entry-level contracts. As a result, they will lose their exclusive signing rights to those players on Saturday.

Lindgren, 19, is the most notable player out of this trio. The Sabres selected the left-shot defenseman with the 106th overall 2022 NHL Entry Draft pick. At the time, he had the potential to be a second-round or third-round pick, so he was viewed as a possible steal for the Sabres.

However, after posting five goals and 44 points in 68 games with the Kamloops Blazers in 2021-22, he did not take a big step forward in his development and never reached that production again. As a result, the Sabres are letting him re-enter the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

Konecny, 21, was selected by the Sabres with the 216th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-10 forward appeared in 48 games this season with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga, posting five goals and 12 points. He signed a one-year deal with HC Kometa Brno last month.

Lyckasen, 22, was selected with the 193rd overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-11 defenseman spent this past season with BIK Karlskoga, recording three goals, 14 points, and a plus-9 rating in 38 games. He also is on the move for the 2024-25 season, signing with Vasteras IK.
