Joel Farabee isn’t necessarily a household name in Calgary yet — but that could change this season.
The 25-year-old winger enters his first full season with the Flames after a deadline deal that sent Andrei Kuzmenko, Jakob Pelletier, and draft picks to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Farabee and Morgan Frost. It was a youth-focused move with upside in mind.
© Jerome Miron-Imagn ImagesFarabee’s career high is 22 goals, set in 2020-21. He hasn’t hit 20 since, but there’s reason to believe he’s due. Just ask the NHL — his slick goal against the Dallas Stars was ranked No. 28 on the league’s top goals list for 2024-25. It was smooth, skilled, and confident — everything the Flames hope he brings more of.
At 6-foot, 186 pounds, Farabee isn’t flashy, but he plays with pace and has a scorer’s touch. He’s smart, shoots often, and should get top-six minutes in Calgary — all signs pointing to a breakout opportunity.
Can he get to 20 goals? With a bigger role and a clean slate, he just might. In fact, don’t be surprised if he tops it.
Farabee might be one of Calgary’s best under-the-radar players this season.
