The Calgary Flames acquired two-time 20-goal scorer Joel Farabee from the Philadelphia Flyers. Here are five things to know about the 24-year-old.

The Calgary Flames traded with the Philadelphia Flyers late Thursday night, bringing in Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost while shipping out Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier.

This is Farabee's first trade of his career. He's spent all six seasons with the Flyers, who drafted him as the 14th overall pick in the 2018 Draft.

In 384 games, Farabee has become a two-time 20-goal scorer with a total of 90 in his career thus far. Additionally, he's collected 111 assists for 201 points. However, Farabee is also minus-31 and has 221 penalty minutes.

Here are five things to know about the 24-year-old from Syracuse, NY, who will wear No. 86 with the Flames.

Seventh Highest Scoring Draft Pick From 2018

The 2018 Draft was loaded with future superstars like Quinn Hughes, Brady Tkachuk, Andrei Svechnikov, and Rasmus Dahlin. As the 14th overall pick, Farabee has outscored seven players selected before him thanks to 201 points in 384 games.

Hughes leads all draft picks with 391 points, but Tkachuk is behind him at 388. The rest of the list includes Svechnikov (353), Dahlin (327), Noah Dobson (215) and Evan Bouchard (209). So far, only seven players from the 2018 Draft have scored at least 200 points, with Farabee the latest.

    Accomplished World Junior Player

Farabee first suited up with the USNTDP Juniors team in the USHL in 2016-17. He then skated with the U.S. National Teams at the U17 and U18 levels, captaining the U18 squad in 2017-18.

On top of winning the USPHL 16U championship, along with the Forward of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards, he scored the U18 WJC Golden Goal in 2016-17. He was also named a U17 WHC All-Star that year.

In 2017-18, Farabee won a U18 WJC silver medal while earning Top 3 Play on Team honors. He followed that performance with a silver medal at the U20 WJC in 2019.

Played 37 Games at Boston University

After being drafted by the Flyers in June 2018, Farabee opted to enroll at Boston University, where he played 37 games, scoring 17 goals and 36 points.

During his only season of NCAA hockey, he was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team and won the division's Rookie of the Year award. He also won the NCAA Top Collegiate Rookie award.

Interestingly, after that one season at BU, Farabee opted to turn pro, skating with the Flyers for 52 games and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for five. He's been in the NHL full-time since the 2019-20 campaign.

Will Play With Frost on Third Professional Team

Farabee has played alongside Frost, who was drafted 27th overall in 2017, his entire career. Whether in Lehigh Valley or Philadelphia, the two have been teammates for six years and will continue to skate together in Calgary.

Surprisingly, the pair have only set each other for four goals a piece, with all eight goals coming at even strength and against eight different goalies.

Former Pelle Lindberg Memorial Trophy Winner

The Flyers award the Pelle Lindberg Memorial Trophy every season to the "Flyer who has most improved from the previous season, as voted by his teammates."

During his rookie season, 2019-20, Farabee had only eight goals and 21 points in 52 games, more than doubling his goal production in his sophomore campaign.

At 20, he scored 20 goals for the first time, finishing the year with 38 points. This earned him the Flyer's Most Improved award, the only hardware he's won at the NHL level.
