Another game, another game-winning goal for Samuel Honzek.
Honzek, the 2023 first-round draft pick of the Calgary Flames, opened the scoring to help Slovakia beat Switzerland 3-0 in Wednesday’s action at the world junior championships in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Honzek, who plays for the WHL’s Vancouver Giants, was thwarted on a penalty shot opportunity against the Swiss.
Honzek also scored what ended up the game-winning goal in Slovakia’s tournament-opening 5-2 victory over Czechia on the opening day. He also added an assist.
Slovakia last opened the tournament with two consecutive wins in 2002.
Slovakia next plays on Friday against Norway.
