Honzek has lit the lamp in all three games as the Slovaks boast a perfect 3-0 record

Another win for Slovakia. Another goal for Samuel Honzek.

Honzek, the Calgary Flames 2023 first-round draft pick, tallied the first goal for Team Slovakia in an 8-4 victory over Team Norway on Friday at the world juniors in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Honzek, the 16th overall pick in this year’s draft — the Flames’ lone prospect at the tournament — has scored in all three games to start the event. He also has collected one assist.

With his team down 1-0 late in the first period, Honzek set off Slovakia’s offensive outburst by parking himself in front of the net and neatly redirecting a pass from Servac Petrovsky into the top corner for a power-play goal.

Slovakia, which has twice earned a bronze in past events, is a legitimate medal hope, and boasts a perfect 3-0 record.

The victory sets up Slovakia for a first-place showdown agains the U.S.A. on Dec. 31.
