Wolf stops 30 shots while his teammates scored a trio of third-period goals to claim yet another comeback victory

Dustin Wolf recovered from a pair of deflection goals.

The rest of the Calgary Flames recovered with yet another comeback victory in Thursday’s 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Despite falling behind due to goals from Stefan Noesen and Michael Bunting less than nine minutes into the clash, and still trailing by a pair heading into the final frame, the Flames (11-12-3) found the formula for their league-leading fifth victory when trailing after two periods.

After Rasmus Andersson and Connor Zary scored 81 seconds apart, Blake Coleman put the Flames ahead when he wired a top-corner shot for a short-handed marker with eight minutes remaining.

From there, Calgary clamped down, including Wolf, who showed why he was named the AHL’s top goaltender in each of the past two seasons and AHL MVP in 2022-23.

Sure, the Hurricanes (14-11-1) rightly had a potential game-tying goal called back due to goaltender interference, but Wolf, in just his third NHL start and second of this season, did yeoman’s work holding strong.

Noah Hanifin and Andersson also provided clutch blocks in the final minute.

Now, the question is whether Flames coach goes back to Wolf of veteran Dan Vladar when they conclude this homestand Saturday afternoon against the New Jersey Devils.
