The Calgary Flames announced that their third-highest-scoring defenseman will miss some weeks with an upper-body injury.
On Saturday night, Calgary Flames defenseman Kevin Bahl was hit from behind by Minnesota Wild's Jakub Lauko. Although he skated off on his own, he did not return to the contest.
Interestingly, Lauko only received a two-minute boarding penalty on the play but had to answer to Ryan Lomberg later when the two fought.
Bahl did not play against the Washington Capitals, paving the way for Tyson Barrie to return to the lineup for his first contest since Nov. 12. Barre picked up an assist on the Flames' only goal of the game on the power play.
Meanwhile, head coach Ryan Huska announced on Wednesday that Bahl is out week-to-week with an upper-body injury.
Since coming to Calgary in the Jacob Markström trade this past summer, Bahl has had a career season with two goals and 14 points in 47 games. He played over 21 minutes a night, ranking third behind Rasmus Andersson and MacKenzie Weegar.
Before his injury, Bahl was partnering with Andersson, and in his place, Joel Hanley is now skating with the club's lone 4 Nations Face-off representative.
Huska has switched up his pairings over the past two games in Bahl's absence but appears to be running it back with the same lineup from Tuesday's loss to the Washington Capitals.
