During the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks contest on Wednesday night, Flames forward Connor Zary caught Canucks defenseman Elias Pettersson with an elbow to the back of the head.
Although Zary only received a roughing call on the play, Pettersson left the game and did not return.
The NHL's Department of Player Safety will meet with Zary on Thursday morning, leading to a possible suspension.
Considering Calgary lost captain Mikael Backlund to an upper-body injury, losing Zary for a game or more will significantly impact the number of bodies head coach Ryan Huska can deploy on Friday night when the Colorado Avalanche are in town.
Stay tuned for future details regarding Zary's hearing with Player Safety.
