The Flames made their third deal of the day, signing forward Ryan Lomberg to a two-year deal worth $2 million a year.
Lomberg just completed a long playoff run with the Florida Panthers, winning his first Stanley Cup. He started his career with the Flames, playing a total of 11 games over two seasons in Calgary before signing as a free agent with Florida in 2020.
Just one day ago, he was crowd surfing at the parade. Now, he will begin a new journey in a familiar home.
What does Lomberg add to Calgary? He adds some serious snarl to the bottom-six. While Lomberg registered zero points in this postseason, his impact is felt every time he is on the ice. In just eight games played, he registered a startling 31 hits. You can expect him as an everyday player to really add some bite to the bottom-six and more protection for the youngsters like Yegor Sharangovich and Martin Pospisil up front.
Lomberg will now reunite with former Panthers Jonathan Huberdeau and Mackenzie Weegar and return to where it all began for him.
