

Calgary Flames legendary winger Johnny Gaudreau has been included in the third group of six players voted into the quarter-century team who made their NHL debuts after 2010. The team also includes Leon Draisaitl, Nath MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid.
In his his pro career from 2013 to 2024, "Johnny Hockey" scored 243 goals and 500 assists for 743 points in 763 games.
For Calgary, he scored 210 goals and 399 assists for 609 points in 602 games from 2013 to 2022, winning the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in the 2016-17 season for exhibiting best sportsmanship along with playing ability.
He and his brother, Matthew, were tragically killed on Aug. 29, 2024, when they were struck by alleged drunk driver Sean Higgins while riding bicycles near their home in Salem County, New Jersey. Higgins was charged with two charges each of reckless vehicular homicide and aggravated manslaughter, as well as evidence tampering and leaving the scene of an accident.
Johnny was 31 years old. Matthew was 29.
