Flames Look to Keep Rolling Against Oilers in Battle of Alberta

The Calgary Flames will look to make it five straight wins when they take on Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers tonight.

Calgary has found its footing after a difficult start to the season, winning four consecutive games and five of its last six. Strong goaltending and a power play clicking at 30 percent, the fourth-best mark in the NHL, have been key to the turnaround.

Devin Cooley has been a major part of that success. After earning NHL Second Star of the Week honours, he will get his fifth consecutive start, looking to extend his personal winning streak to five games.

Joel Farabee leads the Flames in scoring with 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) through 11 games. Calgary will need continued production throughout its lineup against an Edmonton team that can turn a game around quickly.

The Oilers enter the game having dropped their last two games, but remain a formidable opponent with an 8-2-2 record. McDavid has been leading the way offensively, recording 34 points (8 goals, 26 assists) in just 12 games this season.

With Edmonton’s offensive firepower on the other side, Calgary will look to maintain its recent defensive play while continuing to capitalize on the power play.
