The Calgary Flames have placed goaltender Devin Cooley on injured reserve following a lower-body injury suffered Wednesday night against the Edmonton Oilers.
Cooley was injured after taking a heavy collision from Oilers forward Colton Dach in the Flames’ crease. He managed to finish the opening period but did not return for the remainder of the game.

“Injuries suck but I’m a very fast healer! Can’t wait to be back and what a great opportunity to reset physically, mentally, and find ways to gain an edge in my game off the ice so I can come back even better than before. Sometimes what we don’t ever want to happen could end up being exactly what we need!”
Cooley (4-3-0) was coming off a strong stretch of play, earning NHL Second Star of the Week honours after helping the Flames turn their season around. He entered Wednesday’s Battle of Alberta with a four-game winning streak.
His absence is a setback for Calgary, which had received some exceptional goaltending during its recent resurgence.
