After clearing waivers, Oesterle will look to regain his form while DeSimone provides depth on the NHL roster
Two roster swaps in one day. The Calgary Flames have plenty of comings and goings, the benefit of their farm team being in the same city.
After sending Matt Coronato to the AHL Wranglers and summoning Martin Pospisil in a swap of forwards, the Flames also flipped a couple of veteran defensemen on Friday.
Upon clearing waivers, Jordan Oesterle was dispatched to the Wranglers and Nick DeSimone was recalled to the big club before the team departed to Seattle for Saturday night’s clash with the Kraken, where the Flames will look to snap their six-game losing skid.
DeSimone, a 28-year-old, right-handed blueliner, played four games for the Flames last season, in which he was held pointless and posted a minus-4 rating. DeSimone collected four assists in the first six AHL games this season.
DeSimone likely will be the scratched defenseman when the Flames face the Kraken, with Nikita Zadorov back after missing last game due to a family matter.
There was no confirmation that Pospisil will play in Seattle, but he did skate on a line with Mikael Backlund and Blake Coleman during practice.
Coronato and Oesterle suited up for the Friday afternoon clash with the San Jose Barracuda.
