The Texas Tiger has added more prey to his collection.
Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman, who was provided a new nickname when his father announced him as part of the starting lineup for Thursday’s victory over the Arizona Coyotes, was named the NHL’s second star of the week on Monday.
Coleman collected four goals and seven points in Calgary’s trio of victories, netting two or more points in all three outings.
The honour is well-deserved after the league selected Elias Lindholm over Coleman, who has been Calgary’s best and most consistent forward throughout the season, for the upcoming all-star festivities.
Coleman leads the Flames in goals (19) points (37) and plus-minus (plus-23), and is on-pace to obliterate his career highs in goals (22) and points (36). He has also netted four-shorthanded goals.
Coleman was not alone in starring last week for the Flames in their victories. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom won all three outings and stopped 94 of 100 shots he faced.
Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson was named the first star of the week after netting five goals, three of them game winners, and nine points in four outings, while Colorado Avalanche goaltender Alexandar Georgiev received third-star honours for winning three games in which he posted a 1.95 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.
