Pospisil has three goals and six points in AHL, while struggling Coronato given a chance to re-set his game
The Calgary Flames have added another young player on the verge of his NHL debut.
Martin Pospisil has been summoned from the minors in time for Saturday’s road clash against the Seattle Kraken and Matt Coronato has been sent to the AHL Wranglers.
Pospisil, the 2018 fourth-round draft choice, has collected three goals and six points in six games for the Wranglers.
Coronato, the highly touted 2021 first-round pick has collected one goal and two points in 10 NHL games, along with a minus-9 rating.
Pospisil, 23, skated on a line with captain Mikael Backlund and Blake Coleman in Friday’s practice held before the club left for Washington State.
If he makes his NHL debut in Seattle, Pospisil will be the third player in four games to play in his first big-league clash, following defenseman Ilya Solvyov and forward Connor Zary.
Pospisil, who hails from Zvolen, Slovakia, has played in 113 AHL games, and collected 22 goals, 40 assists and 216 penalty minutes.
Coronato is fifth on the team with 23 shots on goal, but has struggled the last few outings. A re-set, and potential confidence boost that could be gained by a stint with the Wranglers would do him no harm.
