2020 first-round draft pick has notched one goal and nine assists in six games for Wranglers this season
With their scoring woes among the scariest sights in the city this Halloween, the Calgary Flames have called up Connor Zary from the AHL Wranglers.
Zary — selected in the first round of the 2020 draft, 24th overall — is off to a fantastic start this season with one goal and 10 points in six games for the Wranglers, who sport a 5-0-1 record.
He is likely to make his NHL debut in Wednesday's home clash against the Dallas Stars.
The 22-year-old center/left wing, was among the Wranglers' scoring leaders last season, netting 21 goals and 58 points in 72 games.
Whether he can ignite the Flames moribund offense remains to be seen, but with the team on a five-game losing streak — in which Calgary has scored only six goals, sitting 31st overall and averaging a paltry 2.11 goals per game (ahead of only the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks), the club should be giving Zary a shot, including on the power play.
