Three young Flames are heading to Windsor with a shot at representing their country this summer.

Cole Reschny, Chase Harrington and Carson Carels have all earned invites to Canada’s roster for the 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase, an event that doubles as the opening audition for next year’s World Junior Championship squad. Puck drop is July 26, with Canada opening group play against Sweden on Wednesday, July 29, before facing Finland the following night and closing out the showcase against the United States on Saturday, August 1.

Harrington enters the tournament fresh off a breakout campaign in Spokane, where the second-round pick from this year’s draft racked up 57 points across 61 games with the Chiefs. His two-way game and knack for producing offense made him one of the more intriguing names in Calgary’s system this past season.

Reschny, a first-rounder from 2025, spent his most recent season at North Dakota, piling up 35 points in just 36 outings — a per-game clip that speaks to his playmaking instincts at the collegiate level.

Then there’s Carels, arguably the headliner of the trio. Taken by Calgary in the first round of this year’s draft, the blueliner turned heads with a monster 73-point season for the Prince George Cougars in 58 games — eye-popping production for a defenseman. He’s now set to make the same jump Reschny did, suiting up for North Dakota next season.

For all three prospects, the Summer Showcase is the first real checkpoint on the road to earning a spot on Canada’s 2027 World Junior team, and a chance to show off the tools that made them coveted Flames selections in the first place.
