While compiling a perfect record in three games, Markstrom surrendered six goals and posted a .939 save percentage

The Calgary Flames may be re-tooling their roster, but remaining in the playoff chase in huge part due to the play of goaltender Jacob Markstrom.
For his efforts of late, Markstrom was named the NHL's first star of the week on Monday. Through three outings, all on the road, Markstrom won all three games while posting a 2.00 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. He also collected a pair of assists and made an ill-fated attempt at an empty-net goal in Saturday's victory over the New York Islanders.
Markstrom, who has been the subject of louder growing trade rumours while having two more seasons on his current contract, is among the leaders in goals-save-above-expected. According to evolving-hockey.com, he is tops in the league. The Flames are riding a four-game winning streak heading into Monday's road clash with the New York Rangers.
Markstrom sports a 17-13-2 record, 2.54 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and two shutouts this season. That includes a 16-7-1 mark in 24 games since Nov. 7 (2.38 GAA, .921 SV%, 2 SO). On the weekend, he was named the NHLPA's Player of the Week.
Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was named second star of the week and Montreal Canadiens forward Nick Suzuki was named third star.
