Calgary Flames prospect Andrew Basha wasted no time in making his comeback an emphatic one.

In his first shift in the WHL Championships, the 19-year-old jumped on the ice and rushed to the slot, received the puck from Medicine Hat Tigers teammate Hunter St. Martin, and finished with a goal through the backdoor... 54 seconds into the game against the Spokane Chiefs.

The look of joy was truly understandable.

The Calgary native was going on a greater than one-point-per-game pace in the regular season before an ankle injury and surgery put him on the shelf since Dec. 28, 2024. This was his first game since.

In his draft year of 2024, he had scored 30 goals and 85 points in 63 games, and was  named to the 2023-24 WHL Central Division Second All-Star Team.

The Tigers beat the Chiefs 4-1 to take Game One.
