After setting a career-high in goals, assists and points, defenceman Kevin Bahl was rewarded in the off-season with a six-year extension worth $32,100,000.

After falling just one spot shy from the playoffs, Bahl can't wait to run it back in Calgary.

The B.C.-native talked on Mornings on TSN 1200 on Thursday to discuss the his contract and future expectations with the team.

"I wanted to stay in Calgary, you know," Bahl said. "We have a young family right now, so we kind of like Calgary and we want to stay there for a bit and just set up our family for success."

Bahl's wife gave birth to their second son during the summer, which made it all the more necessary for the 25-year-old to seek a long-term contract.

Fortunately, for the former second-round pick his career-high three goals, 17 assists and 20 points left an impression on the Flames front office to give him a long-term deal.

"I'm really excited about the next six years, it gives us an opportunity to keep our stuff in one house for longer than a year. Really excited about that, and think we're gonna have some of the greatest times of our lives in Calgary."
