Watch out: Hurricanes defenseman expected to miss significant time after cutting his hand open
Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Charles-Alexis Legault will miss the next three to four months after undergoing surgery to repair multiple torn extensor tendons in his right hand. The injury occurred at the end of the first period during the team's Nov. 9 away game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. After laying a big hit on Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson, Legault dropped the gloves with Bobby McMann. In the midst of the fight, Legault fell to the ice and cut his hand on Robertson's skate. Legault, 22, had one goal, one assists and a +4 rating in his first eight NHL games before suffering the injury.

Hurricanes claim former Maple Leafs goalie off waivers
The Carolina Hurricanes claimed former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Cayden Primeau off waivers this morning. Primeau, 26, went 2-1, posting a miserable 4.31 goals against average and .838 save percentage across three starts with the Maple Leafs this year. The Hurricanes haven't announced whether he will stay in the NHL or be sent down to the AHL, but with Frederik Anderson and Pyotr Kochetkov comfortably holding down the fort, it's unlikely Primeau sticks around. If given the chance, do you think Primeau can improve his level of play with the Hurricanes?

The Hurricanes are looking to add a star player, but you can rule out Kadri as a candidate
Since losing out on Mikko Rantanen and Mitch Marner last year, the Carolina Hurricanes have been exploring possible trades to acquire a top player. According to Nick Kypreos, the struggling Calgary Flames have made center Nazem Kadri available. Since joining Calgary in 2022, Kadri hasn't missed a game and has put up over 50 points in all three seasons. Through 14 games this year, he's leading the Flames with 10 points. Kadri is a productive player who would serve as a useful scoring asset on many contending teams. But, he won't be headed to Carolina. Kadri has a 13-team no-trade list, which consists of the Hurricanes. Kypreos listed the Canadiens and Canucks as possible options, as they're both looking for an upgrade at center and aren't on Kadri's no-trade list. What star player should Carolina go after?
