The Canes won 6-4 thanks to a last-minute goal.
The Carolina Hurricanes took down the Philadelphia Flyers last night 6-4 to extend their win streak to seven.
The Canes have been cruising since their season-long road trip and the vibes are going good.
Here are three takeaways following last night's win:
Marty, Jordo and Jarvy
Another year, another season of Jordan Staal and Jordan Martinook just being a dominant defensive line.
They were good when they Jesper Fast, they were good when they had William Carrier and they're still good with Seth Jarvis.
It doesn't matter necessarily who winds up on that line because the two Jordan's are just forechecking/defensive monsters, but Jarvis does at least boost the danger of the line considerably.
The trio have a 65.91 CF% on the year and last night, they had an 84.38 CF% at 5v5 with 27 chances for and just five against.
Rod Brind'Amour is able to just roll those guys out anytime and against any opponent and they just get the job done.
"It just never quite felt right," Brind'Amour said last night, "But a couple of guys drug us into the fight."
They don't get enough credit, but Canes fans are certainly lucky to have them.
Jack Roslovic: Goal Scorer
Just as everyone predicted, Jack Roslovic leads the Hurricanes in goals through the team's first 11 games with seven.
Roslovic has just found a way to be in the right spot consistently and his quick release is certainly helping too.
Last season, Roslovic had nine total goals in 59 games and he's only ever had more than 12 in a season once.
"It's not normal, but I've been trying to emphasize shooting so just trying to find the net and help the team," Roslovic said.
He's off to a great start in Carolina and perhaps he may never get an assist again with zero so far this season, but that's okay so long as he keeps on scoring.
Faceoff Struggles?
The Canes historically are one of the best faceoff teams in the league, but so far through 11 games, that hasn't so much been the case.
Carolina has been below 50% in the dot in six of their 11 games and last night's performance was the worst of the year at 44.7%.
Two biggest outliers have been Jordan Staal and Seth Jarvis.
Staal has a career faceoff percentage of 53.7%, but that number jumps up all the way to 56.2% since he came to Carolina.
He's consistently been one of the top faceoff men in the league, but now he's just barely positive at 50.5%.
Jarvis hasn't been a great faceoff guy so far (it takes younger guys longer to get a hang of it), but this year has really been a struggle.
Jarvis was 44.6% last season, but this year he's down at 24% through 11 games.
The young forward has won just a single faceoff at both 5v5 (1/13) and on the penalty kill (1/6) and it's at least slightly better on the power play, although still not good (9/28).
Part of me wonders if there is any impact from last season's shoulder injury.
The Canes utilize Jarvis for a lot of different scenarios so they really need him to do better in the dot.
