The Hurricanes have a big pre-Thanksgiving matchup with the Rangers tonight.

What - Game 22 (15-5-1)
When - 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27
Where - Lenovo Center; Raleigh, NC
How to Watch - FanDuel Sports Network South, MSG 2

The Carolina Hurricanes have a pre-Thanksgiving Day matchup scheduled tonight with the New York Rangers (12-7-1).

Carolina is coming off of a 6-4 comeback victory over the Dallas Stars.

Seth Jarvis returned in that game from an upper-body injury that had sidelined him for seven games and he had a shorthanded goal and three points.

However, the Canes will be without both Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion protocol) and Frederik Andersen (knee surgery) so Spencer Martin will be the man in net.

The Rangers enter the contest losers of three straight and have given up 40+ shots in each of those games.

New York has hit a really bad rough patch, but their underlying numbers have been poor all season with the lone saving grace being the play of netminders Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick who have a combined 0.917 save percentage.

Things have gotten so bad for the Rangers that their GM has publicly come out saying that they're open to trading longest tenured player Chris Kreider and captain Jacob Trouba in order to shake things up.

Streaks

  • Dmitry Orlov (5a) has points in five straight games.
  • Martin Necas (1g, 4a) has points in three consecutive games.

Milestone Watch

  • Sean Walker is one point shy of 100 career points.

Game Notes

  • Carolina is 61-82-7-9 all-time against the New York Rangers. Last season, the Canes went 1-2-0 against New York and lost to the Rangers in the second round of the playoffs in six games.
  • Carolina/New York connections include Jack Drury, who's uncle Chris is the GM of the Rangers, Jack Roslovic, who was traded to the Rangers at the deadline last year, Adam Fox, who Carolina acquired in a trade with the Flames in 2018 and then traded to New York in 2019, Vincent Trocheck, who played for Carolina from 2019-2022 and New York coach Peter Laviolette who coached Carolina from 2003-2008 and won the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes in 2006.
