The Carolina Hurricanes will have a short turnaround as they host the St. Louis Blues (8-9-1) this evening.
Both the Canes and Blues are coming into the contest on the second half of a back-to-back as St. Louis played yesterday at 1 p.m. EST and Carolina played at 7 p.m. EST.
The Hurricanes defeated the Ottawa Senators 4-0 with netminder Spencer Martin earning his first career shutout in the victory while the Blues are coming in with just a bit more rest, having defeated the Boston Bruins 3-2 in overtime.
The Blues are one of the league's lowest scoring teams (2.56 goals per game) with one of the highest goals against (3.39 GA/GP) while the Hurricanes are one of the highest scoring (4.0 G/GP) and lowest allowing (2.5 GA/GP).
So on paper, this looks like a decisive edge toward Carolina, but the team's already lost to the Blues once this season even when outshooting them 40-19.
