It's been an up and down postseason for Carolina Hurricanes netminder Frederik Andersen.

While he's made more than a few highlight reel saves, ones that have secured wins for his team, he's also collected more than a few for the blooper reel too.

And out of his nine postseason starts this year, he's only had four games with a save percentage over 0.900.

But the Hurricanes have shown belief in their presumed number one and were rewarded for it with a big performance in a do-or-die Game 5 on Monday.

Despite giving up what could have been a backbreaking, shorthanded goal to Jacob Trouba, Andersen wasn't phased and continued to battle turned aside chance after chance after that.

"The one thing about Freddie that we know is that he's very even keel," said Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour. "He never gets too high or too low. He's a pro.

"It wasn't a ton of work, which is good on our part that we didn't allow that, but obviously a couple of big saves at crucial times. That's what you need from goaltending. To keep you in the game and he kept us in there."

Now in Game 6, yet another do-or-die scenario, Carolina will be looking to him to once again backstop the miracle they're building.
