The Carolina Hurricanes put the hurting on the Florida Panthers Friday night, winning 8-2 in their second pre-season game of the season.
Let's just go over all the goals real quick:
Josiah Slavin got the Canes on the board early, cleaning up a rebound in front.
However, what was even more impressive was that Slavin went from being the first guy to stick up for Sean Walker who was boarded behind his own net to getting all the way to the net on the delayed penalty.
Definitely earning himself some kudos on that shift.
Things only got worse from the Panthers in the second.
Seth Jarvis embarrassed Tobias Bjornfoot with a nasty toe drag before tossing the puck past Spencer Knight.
Then Sean Walker bombed a power play blast cleanly past the Florida netminder to give the home team a 3-0 lead.
Jarvis picked up his second deflecting a Walker shot in front and then Jordan Staal shoveled a through-the-legs pass from William Carrier into the open cage.
The Panthers would get on the board with a drive-by redirect on the power play, but then Jack Roslovic pushed the lead back to five with a power play tally of his own.
In the third period, AJ Greer would give Florida another goal with another net-front, drive-by redirect but then William Carrier would score on a wraparound that was confirmed just barely got over the line by video replay.
And then to top it all off, Andrei Svechnikov was sprung on a stretch pass from Shayne Gostisbehere and he ripped it top corner.
You get all that?
Yeah, not too much to really complain about, because that looked pretty much how it should look with the Hurricanes icing a primarily NHL roster and the Panthers icing what is pretty much going to be their AHL squad this year.
It was a good game for the Walker-Gostisbehere pairing and I thought the Carrier-Staal-Martinook line looked like a real massive headache for opponents.
Jarvis was good, but also too was the young kid line of Ryan Suzuki, Josiah Slavin and Noel Gunler.
It was a cool moment for Josiah as he got to play alongside his brother Jaccob and was in the starting lineup as well as take the opening draw, which he won.
The Canes will be back in action tomorrow night in Florida at 6 p.m. where probably the Panthers' regulars will beat down on the Carolina prospect group.
