The Carolina Hurricanes will be turning to Frederik Andersen in a do-or-die Game 4 against the New York Rangers tonight at PNC Arena.
Head coach Rod Brind'Amour would not reveal his cards during his pre-game availability but it was the 'Great Dane' that led the team out for warmups.
Andersen last played in Game 2, losing 4-3 in double overtime, before getting the Game 3 off for what Brind'Amour summed up to rest.
Leading up to that absence, the veteran netminder had played seven games in a row, by far the most games he had played in succession in years.
Andersen had been outstanding for the Hurricanes ever since returning from a blood-clotting issue that was discovered in early November.
While his playoff numbers haven't been the best, a 0.899 save percentage and a few tough rebounds, he's made the big saves the team has needed time and time again, so it makes sense to turn back to him in this big moment.
Pyotr Kochetkov had a strong showing in Game 3 and with a little more run support, he could have led them to a key victory, but Andersen was brought back to Carolina to be the guy and he'll have the chance to prove he can be.
