The Canes beat the Golden Knights 5-2 Monday night.
The Carolina Hurricanes handed the Vegas Golden Knights their first home-ice loss Monday night with a 5-2 win.
Eric Robinson, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Jordan Staal, Tyson Jost and Jordan Martinook all scored for Carolina while Pyotr Kochetkov made 30 saves in the win.
After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour spoke with the media in Vegas. Here's what he had to say:
Rod Brind'Amour
On the game: It was real solid. A good start. The first period was where we were able to capitalize on a good period. Like we've had some good periods where we haven't gotten anything out of it and then you know they're going to start having a good push back and they did, but we were able to get that lead and that was very crucial.
On Tyson Jost: Nice to see him get a lucky bounce, but we need contributions from everybody every night and we had that from different guys tonight which is great.
On the penalty kill: We've been giving up goals here and there, but tonight it was the difference early. At the end of the game, that didn't matter. It was over. I thought getting that shorty was huge too. Kind of what killed us the other night, us giving up a shorty. It really puts a dagger in there and I thought that was a real big part of the game right there.
On the Jesperi Kotkaniemi line: You talk about contributions, it's not just one guy. All three are now really dialed in and have really almost been our number one line. That's been a real positive for us.
