The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in overtime Thursday night at PNC Arena.

Seth Jarvis was the OT hero, scoring for the fifth-game in a row, but it was really Frederik Andersen (30 of 32) who stole the game for the Canes.

Jordan Martinook and Jalen Chatfield also scored for Carolina.

Following the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour along with Jarvis, Martinook and Chatfield spoke with the media. Here's what they had to say:

Rod Brind'Amour

On the game: I think we got away with one. Goalie played great. We were pretty bad, to be quite honest. They were good, they were desperate. We knew what we were getting into, we just could never get going. Credit to them, but I think we were looking for an easier night than we needed to and consequently it looked like that.

On balancing disappointment in play versus still winning: It was just clearly, not a great game by us... other than the goaltending... and our penalty kill. They did a nice job. Got a couple posts there on the 5-on-3, but we were pretty good on that. Overall, we needed to be better, that's for sure, but it's tough to cry over a win. Happy we got two points, but we know we needed to be a little better.

On if felt the team struggled to match Philadelphia's speed or intensity: We just weren't very good. You're going to have these nights and good teams still find ways to dig it out. That's what happened. You credit them. We knew it was coming, it wasn't like this was a surprise, but it was definitely not our best.

On Seth Jarvis: He's definitely helped us push along. It's been a really good year for him. He's finding the net which is huge and obviously so tonight. You just never know with those guys. It wasn't a great game and all of a sudden, they get it on their stick at the right time and he was able to put it in. But he's been one of our more consistent players throughout the year.

On driving the middle on the regulation goals: Those were good plays. We got the stand on one and got the quick transition and then your talent takes over when you have space and that's what happened. We just didn't do enough of the other stuff and that's really the majority of the game. Which we usually do pretty well.

On Andrei Svechnikov's retaliation penalty: That was a tough one, but you have to know time and place and that was not the time for that. We were up by a goal at the time. You have to be careful because the refs are looking for that. You don't know what they're going to call, so you don't want to put it in their hands and that's what we did there. We were able to get the kill, which was good.

On the Flyers getting a 5-on-3 on a similar play where Carolina should have gotten one earlier: If one's not than the other one's not. I get it. You don't really want to put a team down to a 5-on-3 over something like that, but they did on the one so it should be the same. We know how that goes. It's hard. Tough to officiate. I mean on the tying goal, it's interference. You can't push the D down from behind to get the puck, but that happens. You have to move on.

On Jalen Chatfield's offensive outburst this season: He's been good all year. Sometimes the goals come or they don't for a defenseman, but he's got a good shot and is good at reading the play and of course has good speed. So that's basically all of what happened on that. Got a good read, got up in the play and was able to crank out a real nice shot. He's just been another player that when we talk about consistency. That's what he's been all year.

On what makes the Jalen Chatfield and Dmitry Orlov pairing work: They've been solid. They're good players and one can go really fast and the other guy is a little heavier and plays a little more physical. I can't tell you exactly, but that's part of it.

Seth Jarvis

On the game: It was huge. Not every game is going to be great. We didn't play our best, but we got the job done. It was ugly. It was a tough game mentally and physically, but I'm just really proud of the group for sticking with it and coming through.

On the second of hesitation before his goal: I was just trying to handle it because right when it left his stick, it went about a good two feet in the air and started hopping. There was no doubt in my mind that I was shooting that and I was just happy it went in.

On seeing the play develop: He looked at me and I kind of had a feeling it was coming so I slowed up a little bit. I'm just happy we connected. Guentzel made a great play in the d-zone just to get that puck to Burns and start that whole thing. It was just good overall from everyone on the ice.

On the Flyers trying to stretch the ice: We got caught a couple of times. You just have to be careful pushing in. If our D pinches, we have to get out. There were times where we were hesitant and that's kind of when they got chances and that's when their offense started. Just being weary of what's coming at us and just being responsible.

On the penalty kill: Everyone on the 5-on-3 did a great job. They beared down. Freddie [Andersen] has to be our best penalty killer and he was tonight. That's a big reason why we won.

Jordan Martinook

On the game: Obviously that was a nice play between Burns and Jarvis in OT. Whenever you get odd-man rushes in OT, you're usually hoping you can end it. The third period wasn't what we wanted to come out with. We were on our heels to start and kind of got a little bit of traction and then... But yeah, you have to give them credit. They're playing desperate hockey too. We knew they were going to come at us. We'll just learn from it, try to manage to puck a little bit better and move on.

On the regulation goals: Pesce made an incredible play there. They were looking to go on an odd-man rush and Pesce stays in, gets it up to Necas and then we had a 3-on-2. Then they took the two, [Staal] goes backside and Necas gives it to me and I had all the time in the world. I think Chatfield's goal was the same thing where we made a nice neutral zone play, [Aho] drives in and Chatfield came in with the bomb. Definitely learn from those that if you play good neutral zone, good defensive zone then it's going to lead to an offensive zone chance.

On the Flyers being reminiscent to the 2018-19 Canes: Yeah, they work hard and good teams, you know exactly what they're going to do and for the most part, they did exactly what we thought they were going to do. You got to be dialed in every shift when teams are doing it the right way and consistently doing it the right way. They're working hard and trying to make a push.

On the penalty kill: Confidence with that is obviously big. Everybody's pretty happy with the way it's been going and I think our main objective is that we want to outwork the other team's power play. That doesn't change with our 5-on-5 game either, but that's been really good and we need to keep that going. Obviously shouldn't be putting the team down to a 5-on-3. That was a boneheaded play on my part and there are a couple of penalties that we can clean up, but just have to keep going with that.

Jalen Chatfield

On the game: I think that's fun hockey to play. Playing a team that's not cheating the game. They played hard, blocked shots and we knew that before the game started that they would play that type of game, so we just have to be ready to play our game.

On the team's winning streak: I think it's been about buying in and it being a team effort. From the top down, from the goalie to the forwards to the D to the coaches, I think everybody knows what we're capable of doing and playing the right way. Things are working out for us.

On his offensive uptick: Been getting a lot of good passes from players and just shooting the puck, honestly. That's it. Just getting pucks to the net and good things are happening.

On how the team approached the Flyers trying to stretch the ice: We knew before the game. We played them a few times, so we knew how they were going to play. They're going to get it in and out and send it long. So just staying above them and trying to have good sticks and good gaps and close them off at the blueline.

On the importance of stacking up Metro wins: The season's ending and it's time to tighten up and make sure we're at full gear and playing the right way because there are a lot of teams fighting to get into the playoffs and to stay in it. So it's going to be good hockey and it's going to be fun.
