The Canes stomped the Pens 5-1 Thursday night at Lenovo Center.

The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday night in a 5-1 stomping at Lenovo Center.

Jack Roslovic extended his team-lead in goals with two tallies and Jordan Martinook, Eric Robinson and Jaccob Slavin scored as well with Pyotr Kochetkov stopping 35 shots in the win.

After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour along with Roslovic, Martinook and Jalen Chatfield spoke with the media. Here's what they had to say.

    Rod Brind'Amour

    On the game:
We scored some nice goals tonight off the rush, things that don't generally happen in a game, or at least to that degree. We got ahead and then I thought we just didn't really get our game going. But our goalie tonight was really good. Solid. All over it. Take the win.

On the fourth line providing valuable minutes: All three of those guys are establishing how they're going to play together. I also thought the penalty kill, we got turned around a little bit, but the second and third efforts, the little things and then some key saves were really the difference in the game because if they score on those, I think the complexion is a lot different.

On Pyotr Kochetkov: There were a lot of tough ones that maybe you didn't notice were that tough, but they were real tricky. He was the player of the game for me.

On Kochetkov stepping up with Frederik Andersen out: It's crucial. It's the most important position obviously in our game. We often say, 'We don't need you to be that good,' but tonight he was that good. It's just about being consistent in that position and he's been that. Tonight was a real good game. The other night maybe there were a couple where you were like, 'Ehhh,' but obviously tonight he was on it.

On Jack Roslovic: I don't know what's going on there, but obviously he's got a great release and we've seen that now. Guys are finding him and he's making the best of it.

On the fit in the locker room: That's a better question for them. We know we have a great leadership group in here that does it right in games or in practice, everything. Shows up. And I think that rubs off on everyone.

On Jalen Chatfield: We've talked a lot about him in the past. It was a great find for us. Sometimes it's about the fit. Players have to fit in spots and organizations and maybe the style of play whatever it is and Jalen, from day one, was a great fit for us. He's a good Hurricane.

    Jack Roslovic

    On finally getting an assist:
The guys were making fun of it, so it is what it is.

On what's been going well: It's just been going in. I've been on the right place on the ice. Trying to make it easy for my linemates.

On if he's been observing any superstitions since the start of the goal scoring streak: No. Just trying to keep on living life. Like I've said from the beginning of training camp, these guys make it really easy to be around. It's a fun group to cheer for everybody. Just good energy.

On what he likes about his linemates, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov: Speed, responsibility. The list goes on with those two. Obviously two unbelievable players and I'm grateful to be out there playing with those guys and trying to bring an extra weapon, get open and be available for them when they need to make a nice play.

On the team chemistry: Like I said, that's kind of what I mean by having that locker room tightness and culture. It creates on-ice chemistry and creates everything that you guys see on a daily basis. It's fun to be a part of it, it's fun to watch the guys build and keep on getting better everyday.

On Pyotr Kochetkov: He's been great. I wish he would have had the shutout tonight, but once again, like I said the other night about [Martin Necas], unreal by [Kochetkov] tonight.

    Jalen Chatfield

    On the team's winning streak:
When you're winning games, it's huge. I thought we played pretty good tonight, but we still have to clean up some things and hit the road again. We have some pretty tough teams to play so we have to keep it running.

On playing against Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the same line: At the end of the day, you know how great they are as players, but we have a system and we have a job to do and we have really good players on this team. It's just about going out there and being detailed about everything, staying tight and just playing hard.

On having the first three-point game of his career: I mean, those are always good and fun, but like you said, we got the win tonight. I couldn't have done it without some great plays these other guys made. I'm just doing my part and sometimes you get those bounces.

On Pyotr Kochetkov: He's been great the past few years I've played with him even in Chicago [Wolves]. It's nothing new. When you have him in net, you really trust him. That's a strength of ours. Having such good goaltending. It's a huge part of our team.

On Kochetkov's stick dropping frequency: I haven't really noticed, but I know he's active with the stick and aggressive sometimes, but that's what makes him great. The way he plays.

On the mood in the locker room: Positive, but we want to keep getting better. I'm sure Roddy is going to have some video for us. It doesn't come easy. It's not like we're just winning games. We're going out there and we're playing the right way and playing for each other. So I think we have to keep that momentum going and not take a game off or even a shift off for that matter because you know how good this league is and teams can make you pay. We just have to continue to play hard, a full-60 and keep believing in ourselves.

On the penalty kill: Our PK has been good every year I've been here. [Assistant coach Tim] Gleason does a really good job with that and making sure we're focused and know what they're going do. We have a lot of guys that can kill and we usually get the job done. Those 5-on-3s are tough, two man down and the odds are definitely not in your favor, but it's always about just finding a way. Whether it's a bad call or not, we jump over the boards and get the job done.

    Jordan Martinook

    On the penalty kill:
Our kill, when we're four guys, we're pretty good. When it's three guys, it's a lot harder. But we've been super happy with that as of late. Me and [Jordan Staal] know what we're trying to do to get the truck in motion. I felt like we could have gotten more pucks to the net tonight and created more. Obviously we scored some nice goals, but that's not exactly how we want to do it, but we'll take the win and move on.

On the pass from Staal on his goal: He gave me a couple tonight. I gotta bear down on the last one he gave me, but I think we've been together for two and a half, three years, so we're pretty much part of each other now.

On a complete game: A complete game for us? I don't know. We gave up 38 shots. I don't think that's a complete game from us. [Kochetkov] was incredible. You don't want your goalie to be your best player, but obviously he was. I wouldn't say it was a complete game from us. We know we can be a lot better, limit them and put more pucks to the net. But we'll take the win and move on and take it on the road.

On Pyotr Kochetkov: We've seen it last year too. It's not like a small sample size. We know what he is and obviously he's proving it playing incredibly well. Night's like tonight, where we're not all there and he's doing his thing, it's nice to have him back there. He's been incredible. Kudos to him.

On his recent goal scoring perhaps lifting some weight off his shoulders: Yeah. I've talked about this throughout my time here. Confidence is a big thing and when you see the puck goes in, it helps. I feel like the last couple of games, we've been around it a lot more and we've had a lot more chances. I think if you ask Jordo and [Seth Jarvis], we could have been better defensively tonight. Wasn't our best, but we got the two points and we'll move on and take it on a three-game trip here.

On Jack Roslovic: He's still going for the Cy Young. He's 9-1. He's having a heck of a year for the Cy Young. No, but he's been awesome on that line. Those guys, when they get the puck, they're dynamic. It's fun to watch.
