The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired forward Callahan Burke from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Caleb Jones.
Burke, 26, is a former Notre Dame captain who joined the Colorado Eagles of the AHL following the end of his NCAA career starting with the 2021-22 season. He's appeared in 160 AHL games and registered 30 goals and 74 points.
He made his NHL debut on December 17, 2022 and skated in two contests with the Avalanche.
Jones, also 26, signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Hurricanes this summer, but didn't crack the main roster and was assigned to the Colorado Eagles after clearing waivers a few days prior.
Now he won't even have to change teams. Callahan will also stay with the Eagles per the Hurricanes.
