The Carolina Hurricanes today placed netminder Antti Raanta on waivers.
This follows last night's performance where the 34-year old goalie allowed six goals on 31 shots in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators.
In 14 games this season, Raanta has a 6-5-1 record with a 0.854 save percentage and 3.61 goals against average.
It's been a tough season for the Finnish netminder who's lost his last five starts in a row.
Raanta managed over a 0.900 save percentage in just four starts and his struggles have become too much to ignore. His 0.854 save percentage ranks last in the NHL among goaltenders to start multiple games this year and his -9.4 goals saved above expected rank second to last.
With Frederik Andersen still sidelined due to blood-clotting issues, the question now becomes what do the Canes do now for their second netminder?
