The NHL announced the regular season schedules for all 32 teams Tuesday afternoon and once again, the Carolina Hurricanes are starting at home.
The Canes will host the Ottawa Senators at PNC Arena on October 11 to start the regular season before heading off for a six-game road trip that includes games against all four U.S. Pacific coast teams. Carolina typically has mostly road games to start a season due to the NC State Fair starting near the same time every year as well.
The schedule features 14 back-to-backs and two six-game road trips; the one at the start of the season (Oct. 14-24) and another in early December (Dec. 4-14).
The longest homestand for the Hurricanes is also six games and will occur in early January (Jan 6-21).
The Canes will face every Metropolitan team four times other than the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers, who they will face three times each (twice at MSG and once at the Prudential Center). Last year, it was the Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals that Carolina only played three times each.
