The Carolina Hurricanes selected Russian goaltender Ruslan Khazheyev 158th overall.

The 6-foot-4 netminder had a tremendous season with Chelyabinsk's MHL team posting a 0.923 save percentage in 23 regular season games and a 0.929 save percentage in five playoff games.

He uses his size well to challenge shooters and obviously knows how to hold his own in net.

His KHL contract expires this year, but being that he's 18, he can take a few years, stay in Russia, and develop further.

What's exciting is that some model him as perhaps one of the best goaltenders in the class. The Russian factor may have led to him sliding down the board, but the Hurricanes may have found a steal.
