The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Arizona Coyotes 5-1 Friday Night at Mullett Arena.

The Canes were the lone competitors in the NHL on the night and so they had the stage to themselves for the throttling they gave the Yotes.

Jordan Martinook, Jalen Chatfield, Seth Jarvis, Teuvo Teravainen and Michael Bunting all scored for Carolina while Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 30 of 31.

After the game, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour along with Jarvis and Jack Drury spoke with the media. Here's what they had to say:

    Rod Brind'Amour

On the win: We started really well, which was great to see and then our goalie played really well too. [Kochetkov] made some real good saves early and then we got ahead and kind of sat back. It happens, but I thought the start was really good and that was the difference.

On the Jack Drury line: Well Jack's really done a nice job there. He's winning faceoffs and getting puck possession and he just does it right. He's above the puck and allows those other guys, who are a bit more offensive minded and free wheeling — a little more than I'd like sometimes — but he's certainly a smart player to cover for them.

On the Jordan Staal line: Like we talked about, they started right away. I don't know what [Staal] was on the draws, but he had to have been way up there. When you start with the puck, good things are going to happen.

On Brett Pesce and his 600th career game: It's been a treat to watch him play and grow up into a real great defenseman for us. He's been a great Hurricane. Doesn't seem like it's been that long but it certainly goes by quick.

On moving on to Vegas: We need to come out like we did tonight. Obviously they're the Stanley Cup champs, so they've got it all covered off and they know how to play. We're going to have a tough night for sure.

    Jack Drury

On the keys to the win: It was a good team effort. I think the start was huge. [Staal's] line got us a big start and then Kochetkov was awesome in net. I think those are two big components of it.

On his first two-assist game: I get to play with a lot of good players here. It's special, but the other milestone, Pesce getting to 600 games, that was pretty cool. Happy for him.

On developing chemistry with Michael Bunting and Martin Necas: I think [our line] is well balanced. You have a little bit of everything. Necas has that incredible skill and world-class speed and Bunting is a really smart player who is great around the net. So I think it's just a great balance of three players. Just going to try and keep working it.

On faceoffs: It's big. I think it's a point of emphasis here. Obviously [Rod Brind'Amour] and [Jordan Staal] are two of the best to ever do it so it starts with those guys and trickles down to the rest for us.

On moving on to Vegas: It's a huge game. Stanley Cup champs last year. A really, really good team, so we know how big it's going to be so just come prepared.

    Seth Jarvis

On the keys to the win: It was a weird one. [Kochetkov] played really well. He made a lot of good saves. I think there were a few moments where they took it to us, which you don't want to see, but we started off with [Martinook] scoring 16 seconds in. So it got us off to a good start and then just being able to build off the lead. Power play did good again, the penalty kill... We had all the aspects, but a little lackadaisical at times.

On the team's 5v5 game: It's getting better. I think Dallas, weirdly enough, we probably played a better game against than we did tonight. We got rewarded more here. We were able to put the puck in and capitalize a little bit more, but we're making strides. We still have some stuff we have to clean up, especially going into Vegas tomorrow. We can't really make the mistakes we were making tonight.

On his personal development: I have no clue. I'm having fun, which is nice, but I just want to play hard for everybody in here. I like when they're happy and so if I have to block a shot or hit somebody, I'll do it.

On the key to moving on to Vegas: Win. That's about it.
