The Carolina Hurricanes will have two prospects competing in the 2023 World Junior Summer Showcase.

The World Junior Summer Showcase is an event held between the US, Sweden and Finland in which each team plays against one another to help solidify each nation's final rosters for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will be hosted in Gothenburg, Sweden from December 26 through January 5.

The games for the Summer Showcase are being held in Plymouth, Michigan starting July 29 and running through August 4.

The two Hurricanes prospects that are participating in the showcase are forward Cruz Lucius who will be competing for Team USA and forward Felix Unger Sorum who will be competing for Team Sweden. Team USA, which is bringing 45 players to the showcase, is further split into Team White and Team Blue. Lucius will be playing on Team Blue.

Lucius (19) was selected 124th overall in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and Unger Sorum (17) was selected 62nd overall in the second round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Both players participated in the Carolina Hurricanes' 2023 Prospect Development Camp two weeks prior.

Unger Sorum, who will be one of the youngest players in the showcase at just 17-years old, earned the chance to make the team after a few other players pulled out.

A skilled passer with high-end vision, Unger Sorum probably won't make the final cut for the U-20 WJC roster simply due to his age and size, but this is a good opportunity for his development and will give him some goals for the future.

He also recently signed a three-year, ELC with the Hurricanes.

Here's the following game schedule for the Summer Showcase:

July 29 - USA Blue vs. Sweden (1pm); USA White vs. Finland (4pm)
July 31 - USA Blue vs. Finland (4pm); USA White vs. Sweden (7pm)
Aug. 2 - Sweden vs. Finland (1pm); USA White vs. USA Blue (4pm)
Aug. 4 - USA Blue vs. Sweden (1pm); USA White vs. Finland (4pm)

The games will be broadcasted on USAHockeyTV, although a paid subscription is required.
