Carolina Hurricanes rookie forward Logan Stankoven has gotten more and more comfortable in black and red ever since the team acquired him from the Dallas Stars back at the trade deadline.

Stankoven, 22, was packaged with two first-round and two third-round picks in exchange for Mikko Rantanen and it's safe to say that the deal is working out well for the Hurricanes so far.

In 13 games with the Hurricanes, Stankoven has three goals and six points and has mostly been tasked with playing on the team's shutdown line.

I sat down with the rookie last week to pitch a series of hockey and life related questions so the fanbase can better get to know the newest Hurricane.

1. Favorite Food

LS: "Oh, I'm a huge food guy..."

(I let him pick three...)

LS:
"Tacos — usually just ground beef or I really like Baja shrimp or fish tacos as well. I'm a big shrimp guy — sushi and probably a good Italian pizza."

(Do you like to cook?)

LS:
"Oh yeah. I really like to make penne alfredo with shrimp. I think I'm really good at making that actually. I have, I don't know if I have it down here, but I had a blackened, kind of fish spice that you can put on shrimp or fish or whatever. So I just sprinkle that on with some garlic or something else in there. Right on the shrimp. That's my go to. I love making that. I'm still in the hotel, but my room has a little kitchen in the living room, so that's been nice. I think it's nice being in a room that has a kitchen because then you at least can cook a few things and don't always have to eat out. And I don't mind cooking on the off nights."

2. If You Could Only Listen To One Musical Artist For The Rest Of Your Life?

LS: "David Guetta"

3. Favorite Player to Watch Growing Up?

LS: "Sidney Crosby and Mike Camilleri"

4. Favorite TV Show?

LS: "Outer Banks or Stranger Things"

5. If You Weren't a Hockey Player, What Would You Want To Do?

LS: "I think my first choice would probably hopefully be playing another sport like maybe trying to be a soccer player or maybe a lacrosse player. I grew up playing both those sports too. Outside of the world of sports though, maybe like I firefighter or a policeman. I like to help people, protect people, so that's probably what I'd like to do."

6. How Do You Unwind After a Game

LS: "The first thing I do when I get home is get changed out of my dress clothes and then I'll usually eat as I'm usually pretty hungry after games. Then it depends on what we have the next night. If we have back-to-backs then I'll probably shutter down pretty quick or at least try to, but if not, maybe play a little bit of video games, usually NHL25 or Fortnite.

7. Dream Vacation Destination

LS: "I love to travel too."

(How about favorite place you've been and where you'd still like to go?)

LS: "Favorite place that I've been is Italy. The Amalfi Coast and Calabria. That was an awesome trip. A place that I probably want to go is maybe Spain or Greece or maybe somewhere in the Bahamas or just somewhere tropical. Somewhere nice and hot with nice beaches."

8. Are You More of a Cat or Dog Guy?

LS: "Dog, for sure."

(Any pets?)

LS: "When I was first born, we had a Bichon Shih Tzu and her name was Licorice because she was all black so like black licorice. She passed away when I was like four or five and then when I was like 12, we got a new dog and she is a Yorkie-Pom-Maltese. She's just a little white fluffy, just small dog. Her name is Lilly and she's gotta be nine or 10 now. Yeah, I love her."

9. Have You Been Able to Check Out Any of Raleigh Yet?

LS: "I've just kind of driven around a little bit. Haven't really gone anywhere too far yet, but the other day I took a drive downtown just to check it out. My hotel is kind of up by the airport, so one day after practice, I just took a drive down there and was able to check it out and see what was going on down there and what there is to see."

10. Favorite Hockey Memory

LS: "There was a bantam tournament in Kamloops when I was growing up and it was called the Kamloops International Bantam Ice Hockey Tournament or KIBIHT. It was really popular like way back in the day. Not as much anymore, but there were like teams from Europe that would come sometimes and all across Western Canada and some from the States. We ended up winning that tournament in double overtime and I had four goals and two assists. So that was a wild game. The whole tournament was awesome just because a lot of the city comes out to support that tournament and watch you and up until that point, I think there was only like a few Kamloops teams that had won that tournament and it had been going on for years and years and years."
