Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis has been on a hot streak, having scored in each of his last four games.
It's bee a good season for the 2020 first-round pick with 25 goals and 55 points 69 games, all well beyond his previous career highs.
While he's had a strong season, this little burst has been the best such run of his career too.
So what's been the secret?
"I haven't been really thinking, so that's been good," Jarvis said. "I've just had a clear mind. I just go out there wanting to have fun and usually when I want to have fun, I play my best hockey. Everything just kind of flows well. I just keep a pretty spaced out head. Nothing going on in there. Just go on the ice, have fun and let the rest take care of itself."
It's something you hear a lot in sports when things are not going well. That players are in their own head or thinking too much.
While Jarvis' quote is a funny one, there's a legitimateness to it too.
Playing without stress or worry allows one to play more open and resort back to their instincts. You know, the stuff that makes him a high-end player in the first place.
There's also the fact that he's playing with guys that can match his skill level too.
Since being moved up to the top line with Sebastian Aho and Jake Guentzel midway through the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Jarvis has exploded with four goals in those three games.
The chemistry with Aho has already been well known, but the newly-found and immediate fit with Guentzel, who has two goals and eight points in five games, has been a welcome surprise.
"It's been sweet so far," Jarvis said. "[Guentzel's] been really good and I think he's just been a great addition. Everything he brings like the skill, he has sneaky speed and is super smart and also the way he just works so hard makes it easy for everybody else."
Jarvis' value goes beyond the scoresheet too though.
He's won the respect of his coaching staff being used on the penalty kill unit and in most every critical situation.
His work ethic and drive to better himself are big keys to his success and with the way he's been playing, me just might crack the 30-goal mark this season.
Jarvis would be the 11th player ever to accomplish that feat with Carolina and just the third guy on the active roster to accomplish it (Aho and Andrei Svechnikov).
I say he does it.
