Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin already set one franchise record this season, becoming the all-time franchise leader in assists by a defenseman, but last night he added one more record to his belt.
With an assist against the Calgary Flames on Sunday, Slavin became the all-time franchise leader in points by a defenseman, passing Justin Faulk.
Slavin recorded his 259th point in his 648th career game.
He had tied the record five games earlier with an assist against the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 27.
Here's what Slavin said back then on tying the record:
"I'm grateful. Extremely blessed to be able to play this many years in the league. God's been good to me and all the glory goes to him, but it's been fun. Hopefully there's a lot more to come and a lot more games to come, but it's just another fun part of the journey and to be able to do it with the guys in the locker room and the guys that I've played with for a long time is special."
