It's safe to say that Jake Guentzel is starting to really fit in with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Guentzel picked up his first point on Thursday in Carolina's 4-0 win over the Florida Panthers and then doubled that total in the Canes' 5-4 comeback win over Toronto.

The 29-year-old winger had the primary assist on Seth Jarvis' power play goal late in the second period and then picked up yet another primary assist on a power play goal as he deflected Dmitry Orlov's pass to Sebastian Aho on the backdoor.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour had bumped Guentzel up to PP1, positioning him in the high slot early into the contest, and it seemed to immediately pay dividends.

Guentzel also got reassigned to the top line alongside Aho and Jarvis and their line had some solid jump at 5v5 too.

While all of those things looked good and well, the best part of Guentzel's night came in the shootout.

Shooting in the three spot, Guentzel hit Ilya Samsonov with a little fake, got him to bite and open up the five-hole and Guentzel cashed it in to win the game.

"He's a great player and we know it," Brind'Amour said. "As you said, he took a penalty and he was probably going, 'Oh no. This is not what I wanted to do.' But then he finished it off for us. We know we have a great player there it's just going to take some time for these guys to just feel comfortable. I can just see they're still a tad hesitant and not quite sure what to do, but I think it will only get better."
