Carolina Hurricanes winger Jake Guentzel was welcomed back to PPG Paints Arena during the first period of Tuesday nights game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Before the game, Guentzel spoke with Hurricanes color commentator Tripp Tracy on what he was feeling at the time.

"This is exciting. You spend all those years in one spot so it's going to be a fun one.

After a first period stoppage, the Penguins played a 'welcome back' video on the video boards.

Along with the video, the crowd gave Guentzel a standing ovation along with thunderous applause and you could see and feel the emotion of the moment.

Guentzel played over 500 games with the Penguins scoring 211 goals and 478 points.

But it was the postseason where he really made his mark on the city.

In 2017, his rookie season, Guentzel led the Penguins in post-season scoring with 13 goals in 25 games en route to the Stanley Cup.

Guentzel followed up that run by being a consistent playoff performer with 34 goals and 58 points in 58 postseason games.

Now in Raleigh, Guentzel has fit in seamlessly into Carolina's lineup so far with two goals and 12 points in eight games with the Hurricanes and the team's hoping he can be the piece they need to go all the way.
