On June 27, 2015, the Carolina Hurricanes drafted Finnish center Sebastian Aho with the 35th overall pick.
At the time, the undersized Aho, while offensively talented, had many questioning the move as too much of a reach.
Fast forward to today and it's humorous to see how wrong those assumption were.
On Wednesday, Aho crossed the 500 point milestone in just his 552nd career game.
He's the fourth member of his draft class to reach that mark, joining the likes of Connor McDavid, Mitch Marner and Mikko Rantanen and the Finnish forward became just the fourth player in franchise history to reach that milestone along with Ron Francis, Kevin Dineen and Eric Staal.
Aho is also the fourth-fastest Finnish player to reach the mark — only behind Jari Kurri, Teemu Selanne and Rantanen — and was the youngest in Hurricanes team history to reach the milestone doing it at an age of 26 years and 154 days, just two days younger than when Staal did it in 2011.
Already, Aho has set the franchise record for shorthanded goals (17) and is fourth in goals (232), fifth in assists (271) and fourth in points (503).
And with a new eight-year deal kicking in next season, it's safe to say that Aho will be challenging each of those records by the end of his career.
