While much of the discussion around Wednesday's game was focused on Alex Ovechkin's chase for Wayne Gretzky's goal scoring record, many failed to realize that there was another hot goal scorer nearing a milestone.
Carolina Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis scored his 30th goal of the season, a power play one-timer blast, reaching the mark in back-to-back seasons.
Jarvis becomes the seventh player in franchise history to record multiple 30-goal seasons before the age of 24, joining the likes of Eric Staal (3), Sylvain Turgeon (3), Sebastian Aho (2), Jeff Skinner (2), Geoff Sanderson (2) and Kevin Dineen (2).
The Winnipeg native currently paces the team in goals and could be the team leader for the first time once the regular season closes.
