The Canes are donating $75,000 to help rebuild a community rink damaged by the recent hurricanes. The Carolina Hurricanes have announced a $75,000 donation to the Asheville Hockey League to help with the construction of a new hockey rink after theirs was destroyed by Hurricane Helene two months ago. The league, whose rink was located in Carrier Park, has a full-time membership base over 1,800 strong and they're currently playing an abbreviated season in Greenville, South Carolina which is a 90-minute drive from Asheville. The Canes initially donated $50,000 to the league with a promise to match the next $25,000 raised by the Asheville Hockey League. With the NHL has registering an assist with a $10,000 donation of its own, the league's goal of raising $100,000 has now been met. The team hosted players and officials from the Asheville Hockey League at their home game on Tuesday, a 6-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers, were Team President Doug Warf presented them with a check for the donation. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Per the team: > The funds were issued as part of the ‘Raise Up $1 Million’ raffle program.
