The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot of prospects that they are excited about. They have been rebuilding for a few years now so they'd be in trouble if that wasn't the case at this point.
Whenever you're in the state that the Blackhawks are in, you are going to have participants in the World Junior Championships each winter.
The Hawks will have a few players playing in this wonderful tournament and one of them is Oliver Moore who will play for Team USA.
He made the team after a great first half at the University of Minnesota. In 20 games played, Moore has five goals and 12 assists for 17 points. He uses his incredible speed to create for his teammates and himself. Moore's skating is his most valuable tool.
Team USA is loaded with talent. Their top line is going to likely be the Boston College line that features James Hagens as the center. Hagens is going to be the number one pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
On his wings will (likely) be Gabe Perreault and Ryan Leonard who were both top-ten picks by the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals respectively. This trio is going to carry the load but no team wins a Gold Medal without depth.
Outside of these guys are some very talented players at forward, on defense, and in the crease. With all of these future NHL stars on the roster, Team USA is one of the heavy favorites to win it all.
A guy like Oliver Moore is going to be one of the top depth guys which is not a role to take lightly. His Minnesota teammate Brodie Ziemer will be there with him as a potential linemate. It is good for Moore to have a familiar face there, even if they aren't on the same line. Ziemer surely isn't the only one he's played with before either.
If Team USA gets the scoring they need out of Moore and the guys in the middle-six, they can win the Gold Medal for the second year in a row.
With the speed that Moore brings to the table, he is going to fit in well with the other skaters around him. Team USA is going to be hard to play against because they are going to bring that speed along with some skill and high hockey IQ on multiple lines.
Sending out these guys in waves will be hard to defend for most of the other hockey countries in the tournament. Once that big line exits the ice, Team USA will be sending another line over the boards that also packs a major punch.
This will be a great experience for Moore who hopes to sign his entry-level deal when his year at Minnesota is done. His development is the most important thing right now and the Hawks are dealing with him the right way.
